OZZY OSBOURNE: 'Mississippi Queen' Audio Sample Posted Online
February 27, 2005An audio clip of OZZY OSBOURNE's cover of MOUNTAIN's "Mississippi Queen" has been posted online at this location (Real Audio).
Ozzy's version of "Mississippi Queen" is included on Osbourne's forthcoming "Prince of Darkness" four-CD box set, due on March 22. The first two discs in the set will encompass re-mastered versions of Ozzy's most popular solo smash hits. The third disc (which is entitled "Oddities and Duets") is comprised of some of Ozzy's most unusual collaborations. And the special fourth disc (called "Under Covers") is comprised of newly recorded covers as only Ozzy can deliver.
The "Prince of Darkness" box set will be packaged in a weathered, collectable gothic book with new images of Ozzy taken by famed British photographer/artist Sam Taylor Wood. It will be come with a 60-page booklet that contains a complete career overview and rare Ozzy photos.
In related news, Leslie West was interviewed in January, and he had the following to say about the track: "Two months ago, I recorded 'Mississippi Queen' with Ozzy for his new box set, He sang and I played guitar. It sounds like me playing with BLACK SABBATH. We sounded great. I think it might be on Ozzy's box set. The title at the time was 'Songs I Wish I Wrote'. It really came out great. In fact, we (MOUNTAIN) started (playing) it like that now — a little bit different than MOUNTAIN's version. I like his version better. Now, I play it like I played it with Ozzy. It's a little heavier and darker."
